Days 1, 2, 3 and 4

Hey everyone!

Let me update you fully on what's been happening these past few days!

Day 1
Sunday May 20th

We had a busy morning making sure everything was ready for the van. After we packed we were on our way (YAY!) We left home some time around 11am. We had a lunch of leftover pizza for lunch heated up at a roadside stop. Then we drove on to reach one of our favorite shoot places. The Grampians. We did a short walk to Broken falls after finding out that some of our favorite spots in the area were still closed due to the fires that devastated the area in 2006. Even our favorite campground, Jimmies Creek was closed :( We had a barbecue dinner at Zumstiens Picnic area, which used to be famous for the Kangaroos that roamed freely in the ares. Unfortunetly the Kangaroos were moved several years back. We were going to camp at Stapylton, but we got lost. It's in the middle of some confusing dirt roads. so, we headed back to town and found Borough Huts, one of the most frequented Camp areas in the Grampians because it's so close to Halls Gap, but even that was empty. Probabl;y because the lit of places closed due to the fires still exceeds the list of whats open :(

Day 2
(Monday May 21st)

Woke up (Obviously :P) Went down to the lake, and there were heaps of Deer in the area, who just looked up and stared at us. There wee also several emu's in the area happily eating. The lake was extremely empty, due to the drought, but believe it or not it rained all day! We went up to Boroka lookout, where we have done some amazing shoots in the past, but it was so foggy we couldn't even see the road. On the way out of the Grampians, we drove past Jimmies creek. They've removed all the signs pointing to the campground and fenced off the entrance :( We drove through Victoria Valley, which was also devastated by the fire, it's regrowing slowly. In Dunkled, a ton just out of the Grampians, we had chips for lunch (They make wonderful chips!!!) After that we drove on, next up, the boarder.

Into South Australia (SA) In Mt. Gambia, a place we haven't been in years, we visited the Crater Lakes, which are actually Volcanoes. The most famous of which, is Blue Lake, because it is such a blue color. We drove on after that, reaching the small coastal town of Southend. There was a National park there (Which I don't remember the name of) where we camped.

I also got two new Key Rings to add to my collection. Halls Gab and Mt. Gambia.

Day 3
(Tuesday May 24th)

We're in the biggest drought in Australian History and guess what, it's raining again! We drove on to the town of Beachport. a nice little place with awesome beach views. We happened to find the prices for going to Kangaroo Island... WOWIE! nearly $200AUD Drove on to Robe (Silly name right? Is it a WardROBE? or a BathROBE?) We visited this funny Obelisk thingy... rather disappointing really...

Onwards we go again, to Kingston, home of the Big Lobster. (Yes, one of those really large things like the Pineapple that you've seen pics of!) We had their award winning fish and chips. The fish was yellow... and they weren't so great. Maybe we're just picky? After that, there was a LONG stretch o road leading to a small town called Meninjie. We were trying to make Goolwa (On the other side of Lake Alexandrina, check an Australian map to see!) By a certain time. apparently Little penguins come out (I think Fairy Penguin sounds better) We didn't get there on time and there was nowhere to stop. So we drove on... Way on, past Adelaide to a littlr town called Dublin where we stayed.

Got a Big Lobster KeyRing.

Day 4
(Wednesday May 24th)

Drove back to Adelaide to actually have a look around. Saw the Big Scotsman. It was on a motel, called Scotty's. We had to get the van fixed because the fridge wasn't working properly (things were starting to smell...) Went up into the Adelaide Hills, there were some wonderful views. Went up to Mt. Lofty... It was very windy and cold. WE got some Licorice, Chocolate and other things at the Melba Chocolate and Confectionery factory! Then we went to the Big Rocking Horse. (Yes another abnormally large structure for no reason! But it's at a Toy factory!) We got lost trying to get out of the hills and wound up in the Barossa Valley, famous for it's winery's.

That's all for today! I'll put pictures up soon! Love you all,
Anja
